Compose builds the multi-panel figures journals ask for: several plots arranged in a grid with panel labels and a shared caption, exported as one figure.
Lay out the panels
Arrange your figures into a grid — two across, a 2×2, or a custom layout — and Compose positions them cleanly. Each panel can be a chart, a diagram, a coded plot, or an annotated image you have already built in the project: think of a 2×2 figure where (a) is your scatter plot, (b) the fitted curve, © a method diagram, and (d) an annotated micrograph.
Labels and captions
Panels are labelled automatically — (a), (b), © — in the convention readers expect, and you can add a caption for the composed figure. Adjust spacing and alignment so the panels read as one coherent figure rather than four loose images.
Export as one figure
Export the whole composition as a single PDF or SVG, or insert it into your paper as one figure with a \label. Referencing panel (b) in your text then points at the right place.
Note: Build each panel to look right on its own first, then compose. A panel that is legible alone will hold up when shrunk into a grid.
