Sharing a project one collaborator at a time is fine for a paper; a group that works together all the time wants something steadier. The Team plan provides it: a roster of members, billed per seat, whose plan entitlements follow the team.
What a seat is
A Team subscription has a number of seats — the owner takes the first — and each seat entitles a member to Team-level access. Entitlements are resolved as the higher of a member’s own plan and their team’s, so joining a team never lowers what someone already has.
Managing seats
The team owner manages the roster from the teams page:
- Add seats when the group grows; billing is prorated immediately for the change
- Invite members to fill seats — a pending invitation holds its seat until accepted
- Reduce seats at renewal when the group shrinks
Seats vs. sharing
A seat grants a member their entitlements — it is not the same as sharing a specific project with them. You still share individual projects for co-authorship; the team handles who is on which plan, in one place, instead of tracking it share by share.
Note: Because a member’s access is the higher of their own plan and the team’s, removing someone from a team drops them back to their personal plan rather than cutting off access they pay for themselves.
