Once a project is shared, editing is genuinely live. Everyone works on the same document at once, and Writano merges edits instantly so nobody overwrites anybody.
Live cursors and presence
Every collaborator has a coloured caret and a name pill showing where they are in the document. You can see at a glance who is editing what, and presence is mode-aware — a co-author’s badge shows whether they are in the visual, LaTeX, or Markdown surface, so “In Visual mode” or “In LaTeX mode” appears on their avatar.

Consistent merges across modes
Edits are written back to the shared document with a minimal diff, which is what keeps everyone consistent even when two people are in different editing modes on the same file. One person can be in Visual while another is in LaTeX, and the document stays correct for both.
Note: A view-only collaborator can scroll, select, and copy, and sees the same live activity, but their changes are not written back — editing is reserved for people with edit access.
