Compilation turns your document into a typeset PDF. Writano runs its own compile engine, so there is nothing to install and a long build never ties up your machine.
Build the document
Press Compile (⌘↵) and the PDF preview updates in place beside your text. The engine is a complete LaTeX distribution running on Writano’s own servers, so large documents and heavy figures compile off your device.

The preview is linked to your source both ways. Click a spot in the PDF to jump to the matching line in the editor, and click a line in the editor to scroll the PDF to it. This makes proofreading a long paper much faster than scrolling two panes independently.
When a build fails
If compilation fails, Writano surfaces the LaTeX log inline and points you at the offending line, rather than leaving you to guess. Fix it and recompile.
Previewing and sharing the PDF
The compiled PDF can be opened inline or in a new tab that auto-refreshes on each build. Markdown documents compile the same way, so the Compile button produces a real PDF whatever surface you authored in.
Note: Compilation counts against your plan’s daily compile allowance; higher tiers get more builds and priority on the compiler.
