Your manuscripts are unpublished research — often the most sensitive documents you have. This page says plainly where they live and how they’re treated.
Where your work lives
Documents, figures, and references are stored and compiled on Writano’s own servers — writing, syncing, and building your PDF never routes through a third-party service. What you write stays between your device and Writano’s infrastructure.
Encrypted at rest
Document content is encrypted at rest on the server, and project chat messages are too — a conversation about your unpublished results is treated as carefully as the results themselves.
Who can see a project
Nobody but you, until you say otherwise. Sharing is explicit and per-project: a collaborator sees a project only after you invite them and they accept, with the permission you chose (view or edit). There is no public-by-default anything.
Error monitoring, kept in-house
When something crashes, the error report goes to Writano’s own in-house monitoring, never a third-party analytics service, and reports are scrubbed of personal data.
The business model is the privacy policy
Writano is funded by subscriptions. Your documents are not analyzed for advertising, sold, or used to train AI models — there is no revenue in your data, so there is no incentive to mine it. The AI features are built to the same standard: on your device wherever possible.
